Josef Fares, the visionary behind Hazelight Studios, recently shared exciting details about their upcoming game, Split Fiction, during an interview. Reiterating previous statements, Fares stressed Hazelight's unwavering commitment to a player-first approach, eschewing live-service models and microtransactions entirely. The studio also confirmed their intention to remain independent, firmly rejecting the idea of an IPO or acquisition by a larger company. Fares stated unequivocally, "We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."
In conversation with MinnMax, Fares revealed that Split Fiction's core narrative clocks in at a substantial 12-14 hours, mirroring the playtime of their critically acclaimed It Takes Two. However, with optional missions and extra content, players can anticipate a total playtime stretching to 16-17 hours.
While Hazelight is renowned for its exceptional co-op experiences, Fares hinted at the potential for future single-player ventures. He also revealed that Split Fiction's budget is double that of It Takes Two, yet the studio has chosen to forgo post-launch DLC, ensuring players receive the complete experience from day one. Split Fiction launches worldwide on March 6th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
