12月6日，PC Gamer举办了“PC游戏展：最受期待游戏”活动，宣布Civilization VII夺冠。该活动展示了明年开发中25个最令人兴奋的项目。
在近三个小时的直播中，PC Gamer展示了2025年最受期待的游戏。游戏排名根据“委员会”的投票结果得出，该委员会由70多名成员组成，其中包括“知名开发者、内容创作者和我们自己的编辑”。除了游戏排名外，活动还为其他游戏（如《让我们建造一个地牢》和《末日车手》）带来了新的预告片和内容。
第二名是《毁灭战士：黑暗时代》，第三名是《怪物猎人：荒野》。即将推出的独立游戏《杀戮尖塔2》获得了榜单的第四名。榜单上还包括《合金装备：崛起：潜龙谍影》、《异形：重制版》和《王国之泪2》等游戏。令人惊讶的是，《空洞骑士：丝之歌》并未出现在榜单上，其预告片也没有在活动中播放。
Civilization VII将于2025年2月11日同时登陆PC、Xbox、PlayStation和Nintendo Switch平台。
Beach解释说：“我们有很多数据表明，人们会玩文明游戏，但他们永远不会玩到最后。他们根本不会完成游戏。因此，我们想尽我们所能——无论是减少微观管理，还是重构游戏——来直接解决这个问题。”
Civilization VII引入了一项名为“时代”的新功能。一个游戏流程或战役分为三个章节：古代时代、探索时代和现代时代。在一个时代结束后，玩家可以切换到另一个文明，这反映了现实世界中帝国兴衰的历史。
然而，下一个文明不能随机选择。它必须与你之前的文明在历史或地理上有所关联。例如，罗马帝国过渡到其现代时代的对应物——法兰西帝国，诺曼帝国充当两者之间的桥梁。
即使你切换到另一个文明，你的领导者也会保持不变。根据Civilization VII的网站，“领导者在所有时代都存在，确保你始终了解谁是你的帝国的一部分，谁是你的对手。”
关于前一个文明留下的建筑，有一个“叠加”功能，在过渡到一个时代后，你可以在现有建筑之上建造新的建筑。然而，奇迹和一些建筑会在整个游戏过程中保持不变。
凭借这些新功能，玩家可以在一个游戏流程中体验不同的文明，提供处理文化、军事、外交和经济事务的新方法，同时保留对特定领导者的依恋。
