The 2025 Oscar nominations for the 97th Academy Awards have been announced, showcasing a remarkable year for cinema. Leading the nominations is the Spanish crime thriller Emilia Pérez, directed by Jacques Audiard, which has secured an impressive 13 nominations, marking it as the most nominated non-English language film in Oscar history. The nominations were unveiled by Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang on January 23 during a live presentation on the Oscars YouTube channel. Karla Sofía Gascón, star of Emilia Pérez, is nominated for Best Lead Actress, among other categories where the film is recognized, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Following closely behind, Wicked and The Brutalist each received 10 nominations, while Conclave and A Complete Unknown garnered eight nods each. This year's nominations reflect a diverse range of films and talent across various categories.
