The PC release of *Spider-Man 2* was distributed on both Steam and the Epic Games Store without any protective measures, making it impossible to hack the game prior to its launch. This was largely due to the absence of pre-order and pre-download options, coupled with the game's hefty 140-gigabyte size.
Surprisingly, within an hour of its release, hackers managed to download and crack the game's distribution. As anticipated, *Spider-Man 2* lacked sophisticated defense systems, which facilitated this rapid breach.
Sony took a modest approach to advertising the project, and the system requirements for *Spider-Man 2* were only revealed a day before its PC launch. On Steam, the game currently ranks seventh among Sony's biggest releases, trailing behind titles like *God of War*, *Horizon*, and even *Days Gone*.
Initial player feedback has been underwhelming, with the game garnering only 55% positive reviews from 1,280 opinions at the time of this post. Players have reported issues with optimization, frequent crashes, and various bugs.
In contrast, *Spider-Man Remastered* continues to lead the series in terms of online presence on PC, having once achieved over 66,000 concurrent players. Whether *Spider-Man 2* can approach the record set by its predecessor remains to be seen over the upcoming Friday and weekend. If the current sales momentum persists, the game stands a good chance of achieving a respectable performance.
