inZOI, the latest life simulation game from Krafton, has achieved a remarkable feat by selling 1 million copies within just one week of its Early Access launch on Steam. This milestone marks the fastest sales record for any game published by the South Korean giant, showcasing the immense popularity and interest in this new title.
Launched on March 28, inZOI quickly made headlines, not just for its sales but also due to an unexpected in-game issue where players could harm children. Krafton swiftly addressed this by patching what they described as an "unintended bug," demonstrating their commitment to maintaining a safe and enjoyable gaming environment.
Despite this early hiccup, inZOI has garnered a 'very positive' user review rating on Steam. The game also saw a peak of 175,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, securing the third spot in the Games category. Its rapid rise to the top of Steam's Global Top Sellers List, just 40 minutes after release, further underscores its immediate success.
The in-game user-generated content (UGC) platform, Canvas, has been a significant hit, with over 1.2 million participants on launch day and more than 470,000 pieces of content uploaded. This vibrant community engagement highlights the game's appeal and the creativity it inspires among players.
IGN's Early Access review of inZOI awarded it a 6/10, noting that while the game is visually impressive and ambitious, it currently lacks the depth needed to fully satisfy players. However, Krafton's efforts in promoting the game and maintaining open communication with the community have been pivotal in building trust and momentum leading up to the launch. The global showcase and demo build were particularly effective in generating high interest.
CEO CH Kim expressed gratitude and excitement about introducing inZOI to a global audience through Early Access, emphasizing Krafton's commitment to ongoing communication and development to establish inZOI as a long-term franchise IP.
Looking ahead, Krafton plans to enhance inZOI with future updates that will include mod support and new cities, all provided free of charge until the game's full release. In response to player feedback, Krafton has promised to quickly implement fixes for reported issues through hotfixes throughout April. The company acknowledges the scale of inZOI's global community as a "next-level experience" and is navigating the challenges of finding the best ways to communicate and support this expansive player base.
