Lost Soul Aside: Region-Locked for 130+ Countries at Launch
Gamer Frustration Over Region Lock

UltiZero Games' Lost Soul Aside will launch with a significant region lock, frustrating players and highlighting Sony's continued limitations on PlayStation-published game availability. SteamDB data reveals the game will be inaccessible in over 130 countries unsupported by the PlayStation Network (PSN).
While Lost Soul Aside doesn't require a PSN account to play, the region lock prevents the game from appearing on Steam in these unsupported countries. This means players in affected regions must create a new Steam account in a PSN-supported country to purchase and play the game. This baffling decision comes after PlayStation recently removed PSN requirements for its PC titles, leaving PC gamers furious and many opting to boycott the game.
Blending Fantasy and Realism in Lost Soul Aside

Since its 2016 announcement, Lost Soul Aside has maintained its unique blend of fantasy and realistic visuals. UltiZero Games CEO Yang Bing discussed the game's artistic direction in a February 20, 2025 IGN interview.
Bing confirmed the game's style, including its high-speed, flashy combat, remains consistent with its 2016 reveal. He explained, "This is something we've stuck to for years. During development, we were influenced by other excellent works, but our core vision remained unchanged. The initial trailer evolved into a more mature and polished version."
Bing previously cited Final Fantasy XV as an influence, noting the game's protagonist, Kaser, as an example of the blend of cartoonish and realistic elements—his stylized features contrasted with realistic skin, hair, and clothing textures.
Influences from Final Fantasy, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry

Lost Soul Aside draws inspiration from various popular Japanese titles, including Final Fantasy, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry. In a February 20, 2025 Famitsu interview, Bing detailed these influences.
He highlighted Final Fantasy's impact on Kaser's design, stating, "Our designer created his clothes, combining realistic and fantasy elements, much like in Final Fantasy. The in-game reproduction aims to create a sense of tangible reality, making Kazel feel like a believable, visceral character."
Regarding combat, Bing cited Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry as influences on the game's fast-paced, flashy action. He added, "We've refined the combat system, balancing speed and depth. Players can develop their own styles, and even those less skilled with combos can achieve high performance using various systems."
