inZOI Director Teases a Karma System

In an exciting update shared on February 7, 2025, via Discord, inZOI's game director, Hyungjun Kim, unveiled plans for a Karma system. This unique feature will transform deceased Zois into ghosts, contingent upon their accumulated Karma points.
Despite inZOI's commitment to realism, Kim is eager to integrate a paranormal twist with the Karma system and ghostly apparitions. He explained, "If a Zoi dies with enough karma points, they move on to the afterlife, but those who don’t make the cut have to remain as ghosts until they restore sufficient karma points." The exact methods to restore these points remain a mystery, adding an element of intrigue to the gameplay.

Kim also highlighted the balance they aim to achieve with ghost Zois, stating, "We want to keep the playability of ghosts fairly limited so it doesn’t overshadow the main gameplay, but we also want to make sure the experience is engaging enough when it does happen." In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to special conversations at specific times and under certain conditions.
Looking ahead, Kim expressed his enthusiasm for exploring more fantasy-driven elements, saying, "While we’re committed to refining the realistic elements of inZOI first, I’d love to explore more fantasy-driven elements in the future. Occasionally stepping away from the game's native, ultra-realistic setting could add an extra layer of fun to our simulation of this vast and complex concept we call life!"
inZOI Karma Interaction Briefly Revealed

Back in August 2024, inZOI's publisher, Krafton Inc., collaborated with content creators to showcase the game through sponsored videos. One such partner, MadMorph, offered a sneak peek into the Karma system during his inZOI video.
At the fifteen-minute mark, MadMorph demonstrated a feature called Karma Interactions, revealing a range of actions that can either boost or diminish a Zoi's Karma points. From mischievous deeds like secretly farting on another Zoi's face to positive actions such as "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend’s post," the Karma Interactions menu promises a diverse set of choices.

While the Early Access version of inZOI, set to launch on Steam on March 28, 2025, will focus on gameplay with living Zois, the Karma Interactions feature is poised to play a more significant role in future updates. Fans eager to explore this innovative system will have less than six weeks to wait before diving into the Early Access experience.
