Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming real-time strategy (RTS) title, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite game serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's 2020 hit, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by the part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles Frenken's initial vision for Herodom.
Battledom introduces flexible RTS battle mechanics, enabling players to freely maneuver units across the game map. Engage enemies from afar, manually deploying siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations enhance the gameplay, adding a layer of tactical depth.
Players amass coins to recruit units for their army. Initially, these units possess only basic weapons and lack armor. However, players can customize their units by equipping them with a variety of weapons and armor pieces. Each item impacts unit stats, including attack power, range, accuracy, and defense.
Resource gathering is key. Instead of finding these items directly, players must craft them within their village. Collect resources like wood, leather, and coal, then visit the blacksmith, magician, or other village crafters to create the necessary items.
Frenken's previous success, Herodom, enjoys a 4.6 App Store rating. This game features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new hairstyles, character models, crops, and farm animals.
