Slaying monsters is thrilling, but to harvest every valuable part for crafting powerful armor, mastering the art of trapping is essential. This requires specific materials—Trap Tools. Here's how to acquire them in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Monster Hunter Wilds doesn't explicitly guide you to Trap Tools, but returning players will find the process familiar.
Visit the Provisions Stockpiler NPC at your Base Camp. Browse their inventory; Trap Tools are available for 200 Zenny each. Stocking up is highly recommended, especially for farming specific monsters or completing your monster capture collection.
Trap Tools are exclusively purchased at Base Camp; they aren't found in the wild.
With Trap Tools in hand, it's time to strategize. Combine them with a Net (using Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or with a Thunderbug Capacitor for a Shock Trap.
While both traps are effective, remember that monster immunities exist. For example, Shock Traps are useless against Rey Dau, a lightning dragon. In such cases, rely on the Pitfall Trap.
