While Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered prioritizes action gameplay, it also offers extensive weapon and outfit customization. You can tailor outfits for stealth, melee combat, or ranged attacks. However, combining the effects of multiple outfits is possible, though with limitations. This guide explains how.
Remastered Version of Horizon Zero Dawn Required
The ability to enjoy the effects of two outfits is exclusive to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. A recent patch added a transmog feature, letting you retain one outfit's stats and effects while visually wearing another. This eliminates the need to sacrifice appearance for optimal stats.
Pre-Requisite for the Two-Outfit Method
This technique isn't universal. While one outfit can be your choice, the second must be one of these three:
- Banuk Werak Runner
- Banuk Werak Chieftain
- Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (New Game Plus only)
This method isn't available early in the game, as these outfits are located within the Frozen Wilds DLC area. However, you don't need to complete the base game to access the DLC.
How to Get Banuk Werak Outfits in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Banuk Werak Runner
Reach the Frozen Wilds expansion area after defeating the introductory machine. Adjust the difficulty or upgrade your gear if needed. Locate a Bluegleam Merchant (marked by a blue merchant icon) and purchase the Banuk Werak Runner outfit.
Resources | Normal Cost | Ultra Hard Cost |
---|
Metal Shards | 1000 | 5000 |
Desert Glass | 10 | 20 |
Slagshine Glass | 10 | 20 |
Banuk Werak Chieftain & Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept
For the superior Banuk Werak Chieftain outfit, complete the "For the Werak" quest (the third main quest in the Frozen Wilds DLC). This mission can be challenging; consider lowering the difficulty to Story mode if needed. The Adept version is acquired the same way, but only in New Game Plus.
Once you have the second outfit, you can stop progressing through Frozen Wilds content if desired.
What to Do to Get the Effects of Two Outfits
Equip your preferred outfit—the one with the desired stats (remember you can enhance stats with Weaves). Then, use the transmog feature to apply the appearance of one of the three Banuk Werak outfits. While these provide no additional stats, they offer automatic healing after sustained damage.
This combines the stats of your chosen outfit with the auto-healing perk from the Banuk Werak outfit. With a Shield Weaver outfit, this makes you nearly invincible, as the auto-heal compensates for rare damage instances. The Chieftain and Chieftain Adept outfits offer significantly faster healing than the Runner.
