Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with Stellar Blade generating $43 million in royalties. The company anticipates even greater success with the upcoming PC release, projecting sales to surpass those of the original PlayStation 5 version, particularly within the Asian market.
According to Game World Observer's report on Shift Up's 2024 financial results, the company achieved a remarkable $151.4 million in revenue, a 30.4% year-on-year increase. This impressive figure includes the aforementioned $43.2 million solely from Stellar Blade royalties.
Further growth is expected, with Shift Up confident that the PC version will outperform the PS5 release. While a Stellar Blade sequel remains under consideration, the company is focusing on the launch of its new title, Project Witches, slated for the first half of 2025. Project Witches was initially unveiled in 2024, shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 debut, preempting significant demand for a direct sequel.
Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, puts players in the role of Eve as she fights to reclaim Earth from mysterious invaders. Despite receiving a 7/10 rating from IGN, citing weaknesses in character development and narrative, the game achieved significant popularity, quickly selling over one million copies. IGN's review praised the core action gameplay but criticized the underdeveloped characters, lackluster storyline, and frustrating RPG mechanics.
