HBO's "The Last of Us" Season 2 will feature previously cut content from the video game "The Last of Us Part II," according to showrunner Neil Druckmann. Druckmann described the restored content as "pretty brutal," including elements from the game's "Lost Levels," partially reinstated in the PS5 remaster. These levels, such as "Jackson Party," "The Hunt," and "Seattle Sewers," offer a range of tones, from the relatively calmer party scene and boar hunt to the intense horror of the Seattle sewer sequences.

This added content promises intense viewing, with Druckmann hinting at a "pretty prominent" character from the game's narrative making their debut on screen, similar to Frank's introduction in Season 1.
Season 2 introduces numerous new characters, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel. Catherine O'Hara's role remains a mystery.
The first episode premieres in April. However, unlike the first season's complete adaptation of the original game, "Part II" will span multiple seasons. Showrunner Craig Mazin has indicated that Season 2, comprising seven episodes, concludes at a "natural breakpoint," leaving the possibility of a Season 3 open for future consideration.
