PS5 Pro Specs Revealed Ahead of Release
Previously, Sony has confirmed that the PS5 Pro features the "Tempest 3D Audio" that enables more immersive audio output, as well as enhanced haptic feedback in its DualSense wireless controller. It also introduces PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven feature that further improves visual output. The console also has been confirmed to have backward compatibility, using the PS5 Pro Game Boost, which makes PS4 games playable on the PS5 Pro.
Ahead of the PS5 Pro's launch on Thursday, several fortunate individuals online, who obtained the console early, have shared the specs of the latest PS5 iteration. Do note Sony must reveal the official specs themselves, so treat these details with skepticism.
In their early assessment of the console, tech outlet Digital Foundry stated that the PS5 Pro uses an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 8-core/16-thread processor which reportedly, along with the RDNA (Radeon DNA) graphics engine the console uses, produces speeds of 16.7 Teraflops—a significant upgrade to the PS5’s 10.23 Teraflop output. Prior reports have suggested that the PS5 Pro has an upgraded GPU boasting 67% more power than the current PS5 console as well as 28% faster memory, enabling 45% faster rendering for gameplay.
Furthermore, Digital Foundry's assessment showed that the PS5 Pro has an operating temperature ranging from 5 degrees celsius to 35 degrees celsius, and includes 2 TB Custom SSD storage, USB Type A and Type C ports, a disc drive port, and supports Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.
