New Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO
Black and White Kyurem's Grand Entrance
Following last December's announcement, Niantic has confirmed the exciting debut of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta in the February 2025 Unova Tour.
From February 21st to 23rd, 2025, attendees of the in-person events in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA, can catch and fuse Kyurem into its powerful Black and White forms. To begin, trainers must defeat Black or White Kyurem in five-star raids to obtain the base Kyurem form.
Once you've caught Kyurem, the fusion process begins! Choose your path: fuse with Zekrom for Black Kyurem or Reshiram for White Kyurem. This fusion unlocks exclusive attacks: Freeze Shock (Black) and Ice Burn (White). Here's the breakdown:
- Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Zekrom Candy
- White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, and 30 Reshiram Candy
Earn Fusion Energy by conquering Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversing the fusion back to base Kyurem is free! Plus, enjoy increased shiny rates for Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom during the event.
For those unable to attend the in-person events, the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global event runs March 1st and 2nd, 2025, offering a free, ticketless opportunity to participate.
Meloetta, the Melody Pokémon, Joins the Celebration!
Shiny Meloetta makes its Pokémon GO debut! In-person event attendees can complete a Masterwork Research to encounter this melodious Pokémon. Don't worry about time constraints; the Masterwork Research doesn't expire.

Iconic Legendaries from Pokémon Black and White 2
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originally appeared in Pokémon Black and White, the fifth generation of Pokémon games set in the Unova region. The first three are acquired during the main storyline, while Meloetta is a post-game reward. Pokémon Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, each capable of learning Ice Burn and Freeze Shock, mirroring their Pokémon GO counterparts.
With the Tao Trio's alternate forms arriving in Pokémon GO for a limited time this February and globally in March, the Unova adventure is complete!
