Among the most eagerly awaited releases from last year, Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage stands out prominently. The original Pirates Outlaws captivated players with its stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder gameplay, and now, its sequel is set to launch in Q3 of this year.
Dubbed the "seaquel," Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage invites players back to the vibrant world of New Elysia for another thrilling adventure across the high seas. Begin your journey by selecting a character, class ability, and a starting deck, and set sail for new horizons!
The game introduces a variety of new features to enhance your experience. Choose from multiple characters, each with seven distinct class options, allowing you to customize your deck to your preferred playstyle. Additionally, you can recruit an animal companion, adding another layer of strategic depth to your battles. With enhanced turn-based combat mechanics and a new card evolution tree, you'll have an arsenal of tools to dominate the seas.
Run out the guns
Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, offering more freedom to explore the map and countless permutations of card and character combinations. For PC players, an upcoming Steam demo will provide the first opportunity to experience the game firsthand.
However, one aspect that caught my attention in the reveal trailer was the animations, which appeared somewhat static. While fully animating these illustrations can be challenging, I'm hopeful that the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it launches on mobile later this year.
