Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims

Nintendo has officially refuted claims made by Genki, an American accessory manufacturer, regarding a purported Nintendo Switch 2 prototype showcased at CES 2025. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's statement that the images and videos circulating are not official, and that Genki's alleged Switch 2 hardware was never supplied by Nintendo.

Genki, known for its gaming accessories, including controllers and SSDs, generated significant buzz at CES 2025 by displaying a 3D-printed mockup of the Switch 2. They further claimed to possess a functional Switch 2 unit and even revealed a purported release date. This announcement was met with skepticism given Nintendo's silence on the matter. Genki's website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, showcasing a highly detailed animated model of the console.

While Nintendo has yet to make a formal announcement, they have confirmed that news regarding the Switch 2 is forthcoming. The only officially confirmed feature is backward compatibility with existing Switch games. Given Genki's claims, Nintendo's official denial suggests an imminent official reveal of the new console is likely.
