Obtaining the Music Box
Like other cursed items, the Music Box has a 1/7 chance of appearing on any given map. Its appearance is entirely random; there's no guaranteed method to obtain one. Only a single Music Box can spawn per game. Once located, interact with it to activate its functionality.
Using the Music Box
Several strategies leverage the Music Box's capabilities. Upon activation, it plays a song. If a ghost is within 20 meters, it will "sing along," revealing its proximity. Within 5 meters, the ghost will approach the Box. The activated Box can be placed on the ground, acting as a lure. The song's conclusion automatically deactivates the Box. Note that holding the active Box depletes sanity.
Triggering a Hunt with the Music Box
The Music Box can initiate either a cursed or standard hunt, depending on specific circumstances:
- Throwing the active Box.
- Reaching 0% sanity while holding the active Box.
- The ghost approaching the Box for over five seconds.
- The ghost's proximity to the player holding the active Box.
For optimal use, consider bringing supplementary tools like Smudge Sticks to mitigate the risk of a hunt. This allows for ghost identification and objective completion.
