Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 Leak Hints at Free 4-Star Character Selector
A recent leak suggests Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1 will include a free 4-star character selector, potentially as part of a limited-time event. This selector would allow players to choose one of four characters: Qingque, Pela, Serval, or Asta.
This news comes as Honkai: Star Rail's 3.0 update approaches, introducing new gameplay elements and characters. While the game boasts 23 4-star characters, many haven't achieved prominent meta status, often requiring significant Eidolon investment to reach their full potential. Past updates offered free character selectors to aid in Eidolon acquisition, and this leak indicates a similar event is planned for Version 3.1.
The leaked selector features characters released during the game's 1.0 cycle, including Asta, a character readily available early in the game. This aligns with earlier rumors suggesting an upcoming focus on 5-star character releases, potentially indicating a slower rollout of new 4-star units.
The four selectable characters—Qingque (Quantum, Erudition), Pela (Ice, Nihility), Serval (Lightning, Erudition), and Asta (Fire, Harmony)—are all purchasable in the in-game store. Pela and Asta remain viable support units, while Qingque and Serval have been largely outclassed by newer DPS characters.
The disparity between 5-star and 4-star character releases is noteworthy. Honkai: Star Rail currently features nearly 40 5-star characters compared to 23 4-stars. With eight more 5-star characters anticipated in the Amphoreus update, and a potential addition of two more through a Fate/Stay Night crossover, the gap continues to widen. The 2.0 cycle only added four new 4-star characters (including March 7th's alternate form). The trend, if it continues, may limit the options for future 4-star character selectors.
Despite this, players eagerly anticipate Version 3.0's arrival, featuring the highly anticipated characters Herta and Aglaea. To aid players in preparing for these additions, Honkai: Star Rail recently offered redeem codes for Stellar Jades and materials.
