First Revealed in December 2024

The Witcher 4 was unveiled to the public during the Game Awards in December 2024. The reveal included a captivating trailer showcasing Ciri as the new protagonist, sparking significant discussion among fans due to the shift from the long-standing hero, Geralt.
In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4's Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, addressed the fan reactions to Ciri taking the lead. Weber expressed his understanding of fans' attachment to Geralt but assured that the team is committed to making Ciri's story compelling and worthwhile. He noted, "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."

The Witcher 4's Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, also expressed appreciation for the community's support and their feedback on Ciri's role. He remarked, "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released."
The developers have promised that The Witcher 4 will be the most ambitious entry in the series to date, featuring new regions and monstrous foes. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific launch date has yet to be announced.
