Destiny Child is Reborn: A New Idle RPG Experience
Destiny Child, the popular mobile game initially released in 2016, is making a triumphant return. After its September 2023 "memorial" closure, Com2uS has partnered with ShiftUp to revitalize the franchise. However, this isn't simply a relaunch of the original.
A Fresh Take on a Classic
Com2uS has commissioned ShiftUp to create an entirely new Destiny Child game, this time an idle RPG. Development will be spearheaded by Com2uS's subsidiary, Tiki Taka Studio, known for their work on the tactical RPG, Arcana Tactics.
While retaining the beloved aesthetic of the original—the charming 2D characters and emotional resonance—the new Destiny Child will boast a completely revamped gameplay experience. Expect fresh mechanics and a reimagined approach to the core gameplay loop.
A Trip Down Memory Lane: The Memorial Version
The original Destiny Child, renowned for its captivating characters and real-time battles, concluded its run after nearly seven years. Yet, ShiftUp provided a "Memorial" version, allowing players to revisit the game's rich visual elements.
This Memorial version, while not fully functional, showcases the stunning character illustrations and allows players to fondly remember their Childs. Access is restricted to players with pre-existing accounts, requiring a verification code linked to their original game data. It's a bittersweet opportunity to relive the charm of the original, even if battles are no longer possible. Download it from the Google Play Store while you still can.
