Boss fights in *The First Berserker: Khazan* can be a real challenge, especially when you're not fully prepared for what's coming. The Blade Phantom is no exception, with its twists and turns throughout the battle. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to triumph over the Blade Phantom in *The First Berserker: Khazan*.
Phase 1

The haunting ghostly voices of Khazan take shape in the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass, manifesting as the formidable Blade Phantom. This boss is a test of your ability to balance stamina management with aggressive tactics, given its relentless onslaught of attacks. The Blade Phantom marks your first multi-phase boss encounter in the game.
As the battle commences in a castle with floors awash in crimson liquid, be prepared for the following attacks from the Blade Phantom:
A six-hit combo featuring four punches and two kicks, with the second kick delayed.
A three-hit combo of two punches and a downward kick.
A four-hit combo initiated with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and culminating in a leaping kick smash.
A three-hit combo with flashing punches and a grab that requires dodging.
Beyond its melee prowess, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer in *The First Berserker: Khazan*, slamming it down to cause damage and spawn red spikes. If it opts for the spear, anticipate a rapid throw followed by a teleporting smash that you must evade. When wielding a blade, expect a swift six-hit combo. The Phantom can also vanish and dash around the battlefield before launching an attack.
Mastering the timing to parry or dodge these attacks allows you to counterattack and deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina, setting up opportunities for a Brutal Attack. Persist in this strategy until you've reduced its health by about half, triggering the transition to Phase 2.
Phase 2

In Phase 2, the Blade Phantom opens with four claw attacks, followed by a high-altitude spear throw. Clear the area where the spear lands to avoid damage, then brace for a leaping swipe. This is succeeded by three greatsword slashes and a concluding hammer smash.
While the new claw attacks are introduced, the Blade Phantom largely sticks to its repertoire from Phase 1, with additions like a spear thrust and follow-up, and swift dual-wielding attacks ranging from four to six hits. Teleportation becomes more frequent, and when equipped with the greatsword, watch out for multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Successfully parry this with a Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to restore your stamina and leave the boss vulnerable to further attacks.
Strategically attack the Blade Phantom when its stamina is depleted, and execute the Brutal Attack just as the window is about to close. This maximizes the damage inflicted on the boss, easing your path to victory. Your rewards for defeating the Blade Phantom include 8,640 Lacrima, various Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman's Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
This guide covers the essentials for beating the Blade Phantom in *The First Berserker: Khazan*. For more tips and tricks, continue exploring resources at The Escapist.
