The excitement surrounding the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, has sparked a flurry of speculation among fans eager to uncover its secrets. At the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN gleaned some intriguing insights, though one mystery remains unsolved: the enigmatic final cutscene from the base game. This scene, which teases a potential new direction for the Lies of P universe, will not be explained in Overture, as confirmed by the game's director, Jiwon Choi. Choi tantalized fans with the promise of future announcements, saying, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."
With Neowiz already working on a sequel to Lies of P, it's likely that this mysterious cutscene points towards developments in Lies of P 2. However, details about the sequel are scarce, and Choi remained tight-lipped during our conversation. He emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, stating, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The scene in question, dubbed the "Dorothy scene," was the focus of our discussion with Choi. As detailed in our previous article, the final cutscene shows Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning his intent to "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The camera then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, hinting at a connection to other public domain "fairy tales" in future Lies of P stories. However, this plot thread will not be explored in Overture.
SPOILERS END HERE.
While the Dorothy mystery remains untouched, Choi did drop some hints about what fans can expect from Overture. He encouraged players to replay the base game, suggesting that it contains clues about the upcoming DLC: "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience," Choi said. "A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion."
Choi also noted that some fans are already piecing together Neowiz's plans, as he regularly engages with online fan theories and finds that "some of them are quite close."
Additional details about Overture include an estimated playtime of 15-20 hours for experienced players. The DLC will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter of the game and can be played until the end. As previously announced, Overture is a prequel, sending the protagonist back in time to Krat just before its fall. Players can look forward to new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the surprise for the release.
