Xbox's popular racing game, Forza Horizon 5, is making its way to PlayStation.
In a surprising announcement, Playground Games revealed that the latest installment in the Forza Horizon series will be available on PS5 this spring. This marks another Xbox exclusive title joining the PlayStation lineup, following in the footsteps of games like Sea of Thieves and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Developed by Panic Button in collaboration with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games, the PS5 version will boast the same comprehensive content as its Xbox and PC counterparts. This includes all car packs and expansions, such as the exhilarating Hot Wheels and the challenging Rally Adventure.
This strategic move reflects Xbox's growing interest in expanding its game reach beyond its own consoles. The company has expressed its commitment to bringing its titles to platforms like PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, with Xbox head Phil Spencer even confirming support for the upcoming Switch 2.Recent investor calls shed light on Microsoft's gaming performance. While Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny achieved 4 million players and PC Game Pass saw a 30% growth, boosting services revenue by 2%, overall gaming revenue experienced a decline due to a nearly 30% drop in console sales. This shift may encourage Xbox to further prioritize Game Pass and broaden its game availability across different hardware platforms.
