Colossi Games, the folks behind Gladiators: Survival in Rome and Daisho: Survival of a Samurai, have released their newest casual survival experience. Taking you to the frozen north, Vinland Tales sees you take on the role of a Viking leader establishing a new colony in an unfamiliar land.

If you've seen Colossi's other releases, you won't find anything too unfamiliar here, however. With an isometric perspective, low-poly graphics and a fairly casual approach to survival mechanics, it hopes to offer plenty for you to see and do. Building your own colony, managing your clan and gathering resources will all be key to survival.

Naturally, it also comes replete with plenty of other features, and Vinland Tales boasts of minigames, guilds, talent trees, quests and dungeons to offer plenty of content for you to experience. Not to mention co-op play if you want to team up with friends and take on the challenge together.

A Vinland saga

About the only real problem for me with Vinland Tales is the rather rapid nature of Colossi's turnaround. It's not hard to see that they're trying to hit many different environments and time periods with their releases, however whether or not that means compromising depth could determine whether Vinland Tales finds a significant niche or is too superficial to maintain its position.
