BioWare delivers good and bad news for Dragon Age: The Veilguard players. The game will launch without Denuvo DRM, but PC players will miss out on preloading.
No DRM, No Preload – A Trade-Off for Veilguard Fans
Project director Michael Gamble announced on Twitter (X) that Veilguard will skip Denuvo anti-piracy software. This decision, celebrated by many players who often associate DRM with performance issues, means no preload for PC gamers. "Veilguard will not have Denuvo on PC. We trust you," Gamble stated. One user responded, "I support this. I will buy your game upon launch. Thank you."
Gamble also confirmed that Veilguard won't require an always-online connection. However, the lack of DRM necessitates the absence of a PC preload, a disappointment given the game's 100GB+ size. Console players can still preload. Xbox early access players can install now; PlayStation early access begins October 29th.
BioWare simultaneously revealed system requirements. High-end PCs can utilize ray tracing and uncapped frame rates, while minimum specs prioritize accessibility. Consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) offer fidelity (30 FPS) and performance (60 FPS) modes. PC ray tracing requires at least an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, 16GB RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT GPU.
