Just a few months after the digital launch of the Switzerland expansion, Ticket to Ride is back with another fan-favorite map: Japan. This marks the first time the Japan Expansion has transitioned from physical to digital, introducing a unique twist that emphasizes teamwork and collaboration as key to success.
The Japan map brings the Bullet Train network into the game, a series of high-speed shared routes that span the country. These routes are available for all players to use, but they also require collective effort to build. Skipping out on teamwork will cost you a hefty 20-point penalty at the end of the match, making the game a delicate balance between competition and cooperation.
Beyond the strategic gameplay, the expansion introduces two new characters deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Nakanishi Kimiko, a travel blogger, explores the country's vibrant festivals alongside her loyal dog, while Moriyama Isamu, a Gyoji referee, adds a touch of tradition, connecting players to Japan's rich history.
The expansion also includes four new railcars to enhance your train collection. The Ichi Eki Saki train and Tsuki Sleeper carriage offer a serene, scenic experience, whereas the Isogaba Maware train and Hayai carriage are designed for speed, ideal for navigating Japan's fast-paced routes.
This expansion arrives just in time to celebrate Japan's stunning springtime sakura. You can download Ticket to Ride now for $6.99 or your local equivalent by clicking on your preferred link below. For more information, be sure to visit the official Facebook page.
