Reviews & Mini-Views
Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU ($49.99)
Following Imagineer's successful Fitness Boxing series, including the surprisingly good Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star, their collaboration with Hatsune Miku was a clever move. I've compared it to Ring Fit Adventure over recent weeks, and Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU impressed me.
This rhythm-boxing game offers daily workouts, mini-games, and Miku-themed content. It's exclusively Joy-Con compatible. Features include difficulty settings, free training, warm-ups, progress tracking, and unlockable cosmetics. The soundtrack is excellent, but the instructor's voice felt jarring and was muted during my playthrough.
While a solid fitness game, Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU is best used as a supplement to other routines, not as a sole fitness program. I enjoyed it more than Fist of the North Star, despite the voice acting issue. I haven't explored the DLC yet. -Mikhail Madnani
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Magical Delicacy ($24.99)
Magical Delicacy blends Metroidvania exploration with cooking and crafting. While I appreciate the individual elements, their integration feels slightly off. The exploration is well-executed, despite some frustrating backtracking. Inventory and UI management could use improvement.
The game boasts charming pixel art, a delightful soundtrack, and customizable UI settings. Some frame pacing issues were noticeable on Switch, though rumble feedback is good. I believe this title would benefit from updates or early access refinement. The Switch version's portability is a plus. -Mikhail Madnani
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Aero The Acro-Bat 2 ($5.99)
A sequel to the 16-bit classic, Aero The Acro-Bat 2, surpasses the original in polish, though perhaps losing some of its unique charm. This release, surprisingly, isn't Ratalaika's typical emulation; instead, it's a tailored presentation with extras like box scans, achievements, a gallery, and cheats. Only the SNES version is included (no Genesis/Mega Drive version).
Fans of the original will enjoy this enhanced experience. Ratalaika's improved emulation wrapper is commendable. A solid release for fans and those seeking 16-bit platformers. -Shaun
SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5
Metro Quester | Osaka ($19.99)
This prequel/expansion to Metro Quester shifts the setting to Osaka and introduces new dungeons, characters, and mechanics. The turn-based combat, top-down exploration, and strategic gameplay remain core features. The new setting introduces canoe travel over water. This offers more depth for existing fans and is a great entry point for newcomers. -Shaun
