EA's much-anticipated Star Wars turn-based tactics game is set to be unveiled at Star Wars Celebration 2025. This untitled project, developed by Bit Reactor—a studio formed by veterans from Firaxis Games known for their work on the XCOM series—has been in the works since its announcement in early 2022. Bit Reactor has collaborated closely with Respawn Entertainment, the developers behind the Star Wars Jedi series, to bring this new game to life. Fans will get their first glimpse of the game on April 19 during a live panel featuring the lead development team from Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games, as outlined in the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule.
Details about the game remain scarce, including the era in which it's set and the specifics of its gameplay. However, considering the developers' background with XCOM, it's plausible to expect a strategy game with a strong Star Wars flavor.
Respawn Entertainment is also busy with the third installment in the Star Wars Jedi trilogy, though it's not expected to appear at this year's Star Wars Celebration. Previously, Respawn was developing another Star Wars game, a first-person shooter rumored to feature a Mandalorian protagonist, but it was canceled during a significant restructuring at EA that resulted in the loss of about 670 jobs. Additionally, in March, Respawn canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter project and reduced the team working on it.
During Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm will also provide a sneak peek at "The Mandalorian & Grogu" movie, set to release in May 2026, and a first look at "Star Wars: Visions Volume 3."
