- Strategise the best placement of units to survive
- Collect resources for more upgrades
- Challenge yourself across increasing difficulty levels
Developer Tomoki Fukushima has announced the official launch of Sphere Defense, a new tower defence game where - as the title suggests - you defend the sphere (Earth, essentially) from relentless waves of enemies.
Now, before you dismiss this as just another run-of-the-mill tower defence time-waster, what gives it a bit of a twist that spices things up are the minimalist visuals and sparkly neon lights. That said, the goal of Sphere Defense still is, true to its genre, to strategise the best placement of towers and units to fend off incoming attacks.
Each successful stand rewards you with handy resources, which you can then use to boost your units until you claim that sweet, sweet victory. Of course, as you progress through the levels, the challenges get increasingly more difficult - and if you can manage to clear levels without taking a single hit, you can rack up those high scores for the ultimate bragging rights.
"This game was developed as a homage to 'geoDefense', a tower defence game created over 10 years ago by David Whatley. When I played 'geoDefense', I was deeply impressed by how such a simple game could be so fun and beautiful," says the dev.
