Smite 2's open beta is now live and free-to-play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. This launch coincides with a major content update from Titan Forge Games.
A year in the making, Smite 2, built with Unreal Engine 5, offers a significantly enhanced experience over its predecessor. Visuals and combat have been refined, and the item shop has been overhauled for greater flexibility. Core gameplay remains true to the original, featuring 5v5 battles between gods from various mythologies. Following a successful closed alpha, the open beta opens the game to all players.
This open beta introduces a wealth of new content, headlined by Aladdin, a completely new god designed specifically for Smite 2. Aladdin boasts unique abilities, including wall-running and a three-wish revival mechanic tied to his companion. His ultimate ability involves capturing enemies for a 1v1 duel.
Key additions in Smite 2's open beta:
- Five new gods: Aladdin, Geb (Egyptian God of Earth), Mulan (Chinese Ascendant Warrior), Agni (Hindu Pantheon), and Ullr (Norse Pantheon).
- Return of the popular 3v3 Joust mode.
- A new Arthurian-themed map.
- Conquest map updates.
- Alpha version of the Assault game mode.
- New "Aspects" – optional enhancements for certain gods.
The game's creative director has stated that Smite 2 surpasses the original in numerous aspects, crediting player feedback from the closed alpha for significant improvements. Ambitious new content is planned for 2025.
While available on most major platforms, Smite 2 is currently unavailable for Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns. However, Titan Forge Games remains open to a potential release on the Nintendo Switch 2. For now, Smite fans can enjoy the free open beta on their preferred platform.
