Mastering Fishing in Rune Slayer: A Comprehensive Guide

If you're wondering if Rune Slayer is an MMORPG, the answer is a resounding "yes"—it features fishing! This guide will walk you through the surprisingly non-intuitive fishing mechanics.

Recommended Prep Work

Before you start reeling in the catch, you'll need to complete a crucial step:

Accept the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired NPC near the Barracuda's swimming area). He'll task you with catching 5 items, rewarding you with a Tackle Box upon completion.

Next, acquire your fishing supplies from Simon: a Wood Fishing Rod and at least 5 Worms (10 is recommended).

Crucially, you don't equip the bait; simply keep the Worms in your inventory. A Worm is consumed with each catch. It appears you need at least 5 worms in your inventory to successfully catch anything. Placing them in your hotbar aids in tracking your supply.

The Fishing Process

1. Select your Wood Fishing Rod (placing it in your hotbar is sufficient).

  1. Hold M1 to cast your line into the water (the pier by Simon works well).

  2. Watch the bobber; when it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch.

Important Note: Success isn't guaranteed. You might catch nothing, or you might catch junk. Don't worry; Simon counts junk as a successful catch!

Once you've caught 5 items (fish or junk), return to Simon to complete the quest and receive your Tackle Box. Store your remaining Worms in the Tackle Box to free up inventory space.

That's it! Happy fishing! For further assistance, consult our Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Rune Slayer.
