Rebel Wolves, a studio established by former CD Projekt RED developers, recently unveiled their debut title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, in a captivating livestream. The stream featured a four-minute cinematic trailer, serving as the game's opening narrative sequence, introducing a dark fantasy action RPG experience.
Set in a 14th-century alternate Europe, The Blood of Dawnwalker follows Coen, a young man who gains supernatural abilities after the events depicted in the trailer. His mission: rescue his loved ones from a vampire threat within a strict 30-day timeframe. While time progresses only during specific in-game moments, strategic time management will be crucial.
Coen faces a compelling moral choice: embrace his humanity or succumb to his vampiric nature, a decision with far-reaching consequences on both gameplay and the narrative. A key mechanic, "Blood Hunger," forces players to manage Coen's blood intake, lest he lose control and unintentionally harm key characters, triggering unforeseen outcomes.
Players will explore richly detailed environments, with dynamic elements influenced by the time of day. The developers describe the open world as a "narrative sandbox," offering extensive player agency.
Developed over two years using Unreal Engine 5, The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. A release date is yet to be announced.
