Former The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 developers at Rebel Wolves have unveiled their ambitious new project, The Blood of Dawnwalker. While not aiming for a full-scale AAA experience, the team's aspirations are undeniably high.
Rebel Wolves' founder, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, clarified the studio's vision: "We want AAA quality, like The Witcher 3—that's our heritage. But as a small studio on our first project, we're creating something more compact yet equally polished."
The game's projected playtime is estimated at 30-40 hours: "Comparing anything to The Witcher 3, which was meant to last 100+ hours but often exceeded 200-300 hours, is ambitious. But is size the sole determinant of AAA quality? Call of Duty is AAA without a massive campaign. So, does scale truly matter?"
Tomaszkiewicz further de-emphasized industry classifications like "AAA" and "AAAA," deeming them largely irrelevant.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an action RPG centered around a half-vampire racing against time—30 days and 30 nights—to save his loved ones. Despite the time-sensitive narrative, the developers promise a smooth and engaging gameplay experience. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the game is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, although a concrete release date remains unannounced.
