Leaked gameplay footage from a closed playtest of EA's upcoming Battlefield game has surfaced online. As reported by TheGamer, a Twitch streamer, anto_merguezz, seemingly streamed footage from the Battlefield Labs playtest. While the stream itself is no longer available on the streamer's page, recordings have circulated online, primarily via Reddit.
The leaked footage seemingly confirms the game's modern setting, a departure from the historical or futuristic settings of previous Battlefield titles, as previously hinted at by Vince Zampella. The footage showcases firefights and the game's destructible environments. Initial fan reaction appears positive, a welcome change after the less-than-stellar launch of Battlefield 2042.
Last month's official unveiling revealed details about the new Battlefield, including the return of a traditional, linear single-player campaign—a feature notably absent in Battlefield 2042, much to the disappointment of many players.
EA currently anticipates launching the next Battlefield game in fiscal year 2026 (April 2025 – March 2026). With the game's launch approaching, we can likely expect more official reveals soon. Given the current leak situation, keeping the game under wraps until then may prove challenging for EA.
