Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Snake-Themed Mass Outbreak Event
A special Mass Outbreak event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is underway, celebrating the Year of the Snake with boosted Shiny rates for Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper. This limited-time event runs until January 12th, offering players an increased chance to add these serpentine Pokémon to their collections in shiny form.
Following the recent Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid event which concluded 2024's Year of the Dragon, this new event provides another exciting opportunity for players. The Rayquaza event, while easily conquered due to Rayquaza's Fairy-type weakness, offered a convenient way to obtain this rare Shiny Pokémon, especially for those who hadn't progressed far enough in the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.
This Snakelike Mass Outbreak, detailed on Serebii.net, commenced on January 9th at 7:00 PM Eastern Time and ends on January 12th at 6:59 PM Eastern Time. Silicobra will appear across all Paldea land areas, Ekans in Kitakami, and Seviper in the Terarium. Encounter levels range from 10 to 65, scaling with player progression in the main storyline. To access the event, players must connect to the internet, navigate to the Poke Portal via the in-game menu, and select "Get Poke Portal News."
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Snakelike Mass Outbreak Details (January 2025):
- Event duration: Until January 12th.
- Increased Shiny encounter odds for Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper.
- Internet connection required to trigger the event.
- Shiny rate is boosted by 0.5% before any additional multipliers are applied.
Players aiming for Shiny Pokémon can further enhance their odds by creating Shiny Sandwiches. For Ekans and Seviper, use a Salty or Spicy Herba Mystica with a Green Bell Pepper; for Silicobra, substitute the pepper with Ham.
The future of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet beyond this event remains uncertain, especially with the anticipated release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in 2025. The Pokémon Company's plans for the Year of the Snake are yet to be revealed.
