Genki's CES 2025 Switch 2 Mockup Reveals Key Features
Genki, a prominent handheld gaming accessory developer, showcased a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing several key design features. Based on a reportedly black-market acquired unit, the model accurately reflects the console's dimensions, highlighting a larger size comparable to the Steam Deck.
Key features confirmed by Genki CEO Eddie Tsai include magnetic Joy-Con controllers with integrated optical sensors, a second USB-C port, and a currently unknown "C" button. The magnetic Joy-Con, while detaching via a button-activated pin mechanism, maintain a secure grip during gameplay. The optical sensors suggest potential functionality as mouse-like input devices, supported by recently leaked images.
Despite its increased size, the Switch 2 maintains a slim profile, fitting within the existing Switch dock. However, structural differences render it incompatible for use with the older dock. The purpose of the additional USB-C port and the "C" button remain undisclosed.
