The Parabolic Microphone falls under the category of Optional Equipment in *Phasmophobia*, which means it's not automatically included in your starting gear. To add this powerful tool to your arsenal, you need to reach a certain level and then purchase it from the in-game Shop.
Just like other equipment in *Phasmophobia*, the Parabolic Microphone comes in three tiers, each improving in quality and effectiveness. To unlock the first tier, you must reach Level 7 and then head to the shop to add it to your loadout.
The second tier becomes available at Level 31 and will set you back $3,000 for the upgrade. The top-tier version unlocks at Level 72 and costs $5,000. Once unlocked, you can choose any tier of the Parabolic Microphone for your loadout, and you can equip up to two, no matter the size of your team.
Keep in mind, if you decide to Prestige your character, you'll start back at Level 1 and will need to unlock each tier of the Parabolic Microphone all over again, just like with other equipment.

The Parabolic Microphone is particularly invaluable on medium or large maps in *Phasmophobia*. It allows you to track the ghost's location by listening for sounds such as objects being thrown, doors moving, or the ghost's voice, offering an alternative to traditional methods like using the temperature gauge or the EMF Reader.
Not only does it help in locating the ghost, but it can also assist in completing Optional Objectives that require you to capture the ghost's voice. Moreover, certain ghost types like the Deogen or Banshee produce unique sounds that can only be detected by the Parabolic Microphone, providing crucial clues for identification.
