Moonstone, Marvel Snap's newest Ongoing card, replicates the Ongoing effects of your 1-, 2-, and 3-Cost cards in its lane – a powerful enhancement of Mystique's abilities. However, building a consistently successful deck around this potent but vulnerable card (often called "the Glass Cannon") presents a challenge.
After extensive testing, two optimal Moonstone deck archetypes emerged: Patriot and Tribunal-focused strategies. This guide details building and optimizing both. A final section assesses Moonstone's overall value.
Moonstone (4–6)
Ongoing: Copies the Ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-Cost cards in this lane.
Series: Five (Ultra Rare)
Season: Dark Avengers
Release: January 15, 2025
The Best Deck for Moonstone
Moonstone excels in supporting roles, not as the primary win condition. A reliable approach integrates Moonstone into a Patriot-Ultron deck. Focus on leveraging one or two key Ongoing effects rather than over-relying on Moonstone's ability.
A strong Moonstone, Patriot, and Ultron deck includes: Brood, Mystique, Dazzler, Mockingbird, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Squirrel Girl, Blue Marvel, and Mister Sinister.

Moonstone Deck Synergies
- Set up board buffs using Brood, Sinister, or Squirrel Girl.
- Utilize one lane for Patriot, Mystique, and Moonstone (ideally in that order).
- Deploy Ultron in the final round to maximize location control and buff benefits.
- Iron Man, Blue Marvel, and Mockingbird provide backup power if needed.
An Alternative Deck for Moonstone
For a more thrilling, albeit less consistent, strategy, pair Moonstone with Onslaught and The Living Tribunal. Here, Moonstone becomes a primary win condition. Include: Onslaught, Living Tribunal, Mystique, Magik, Psylocke, Sera, Iron Man, Ravonna Renslayer, Captain America, Howard the Duck, and Iron Lad.

Ideal Play Sequence:
- Use Psylocke for early Moonstone placement.
- Play Onslaught, Mystique, and Iron Man in Moonstone's lane.
- Distribute power across lanes using The Living Tribunal in the final round.
Psylocke and Sera provide cost reduction, Magik extends the game, and Captain America/Iron Lad offer backup. However, this strategy's major weakness is Super Skrull.
How to Counter Moonstone
Super Skrull effectively counters Moonstone. Since Moonstone's release, Super Skrull's inclusion in decks has increased significantly. Enchantress, Rogue, and Echo also neutralize Moonstone's abilities.
Moonstone's vulnerability stems from her reliance on her own lane. Unless protected (e.g., by Invisible Woman), Enchantress, Echo, Rogue, or Super Skrull (in another lane) easily disrupt her strategy.
Is Moonstone Worth It?
Moonstone is a valuable addition for several reasons: 1) Her ability will increase in value with future Ongoing card releases; 2) She's in a Spotlight Cache with other Series Five cards, reducing the risk of unwanted pulls; and 3) She offers nostalgic, high-impact gameplay. If you enjoy powerful combo potential, Moonstone is a worthwhile acquisition.
