NetEase Games has announced a ban on keyboard and mouse adapters in Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The use of adapters like XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from keyboard and mouse controls, is considered a violation of the game's terms of service. This is due to the unfair competitive advantage provided by increased precision and aiming assist retention.
NetEase employs advanced detection technology to identify adapter usage with high accuracy, resulting in account suspensions upon detection. The company states that such devices create an unbalanced gameplay experience, particularly in competitive modes.
Separately, a correlation has been observed between higher FPS and increased ping in Marvel Rivals. While less noticeable at lower ping values, a jump to 150ms from a baseline of 90ms, for example, can severely impact gameplay. This issue appears linked to frame rate. Until a patch addresses this, players are advised to experiment with FPS settings to find an optimal balance between frame rate and ping. Some players suggest maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary workaround, although this may differ from typical settings in other competitive titles.
