League of Legends is bringing back Hextech Chests, responding directly to player feedback. Read on to learn more about this update and other changes coming to LoL.
League of Legends Reverses Course on Unpopular Changes
The Return of Hextech Chests
Following player feedback, League of Legends (LoL) is reinstating Hextech Chests. In a developer update posted on February 27, 2025, Riot Games detailed upcoming changes, also highlighted in a YouTube video.
Riot acknowledged recent unpopular updates, stating, "We've heard your feedback, and it's clear we need to adjust in several areas." The return of Hextech Chests was a key player request. Riot explained, "Many players valued Hextech Chests not just for rewards, but for the rewarding feeling they provided. We underestimated their importance, leading to poorly-received changes."
Starting with patch 25.05, Hextech Chests are back! Players can earn up to 10 chests and keys per act: 8 from the free pass and 2 through the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed & Further Fan-Driven Adjustments

The upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, along with the entire Exalted skin line, has been delayed. Riot aims to "ensure it better reflects its core fantasy." This means the planned release of an Exalted skin each Act will not occur this year.
Responding to further feedback, LoL will replace a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing player concerns about a shortage of Mythic Essence in the paid pass and the number of champions per seasonal theme.
To improve champion accessibility, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% in patch 25.05.
Finally, Clash’s monthly schedule returns. March will feature ARURF Clash, followed by a regular SR Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return

Popular features, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are also making a comeback. Your Shop is slated for 25.06 and the Emporium for 25.07.
Riot clarified, "Improving League is an ongoing process. These updates are a significant step, and we’ll continue monitoring feedback and making adjustments."
This response demonstrates Riot Games' commitment to listening to player feedback and creating a game that caters to its community. League of Legends is free-to-play on PC. Visit our League of Legends page for the latest news.
