Securing the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* requires completing specific tasks, and rescuing Sam is crucial. This guide details how to locate and save Sam during the "Reckoning" quest.
Rescuing Sam During “Reckoning”
Towards the end of the main questline, you discover Sam is held captive at Praguer’s Camp, captured by Brabant. The "Reckoning" quest presents the opportunity to save him. You can infiltrate the camp stealthily or opt for a more direct approach.
A guard's outfit is essential for blending in. You can acquire one by stealthily killing a guard and taking it, or by looting chests within the camp. Once equipped, explore the camp undetected.

When to Rescue Sam
After freeing Sam, don't immediately leave the camp. He'll inform you about von Aulitz, also present. It's more efficient to deal with von Aulitz first, then find a horse, and finally return for Sam. This order simplifies the process, as you'll need to carry Sam to the horse.
Von Aulitz is in the main camp area. Your guard outfit allows access to him. You'll find him dying. You can offer him a dignified death (the most honorable choice), kill him, or leave him to perish. Leaving him to die contributes to the best ending.
Finally, retrieve Sam from the barn (a guard might question you; explain you're moving a body). Exit the camp, turn right, and proceed to the stables to find a horse. Escape with Sam, completing a significant step towards the end of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s main storyline.
