Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, from Xbox's Bethesda and developer MachineGames, is reportedly set to launch on PlayStation 5 in the first half of 2025, following its upcoming release on Xbox Series X/S and PC later this year.
Xbox's “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” Possibly Releasing on PS5Insider and Reports Claim a 2025 PS5 Release for Indiana Jones
Recent reports indicate that Xbox's upcoming action-adventure game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, could possibly launch on the PS5 in the first half of 2025 following its upcoming release on the company's own platforms: the Xbox Series X/S and PC. According to industry insider Nate the Hate, who previously reported on details about Microsoft’s multi-platform plans, the game will be a timed console exclusive for Xbox during the 2024 holiday season, with a PS5 release to follow somewhere around the first half of 2025.
"MachineGames' Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will release on Xbox & PC this holiday (Dec) as a timed console exclusive. After this timed-exclusive window expires, Indiana Jones & the Great Circle is planned to come to PlayStation 5 in the first half of 2025," they wrote on Twitter (X).
These claims were subsequently attested to by Insider Gaming, which noted in their recent report that some media outlets have received this information under non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
Xbox Could Expand Major Releases to PlayStation
There have been previous speculations about Microsoft and Xbox's approach to platform exclusivity. Earlier this year, The Verge reported that Bethesda, the game's publisher, and Microsoft were considering expanding the release of major Xbox titles like Indiana Jones and Starfield to other platforms. Although Microsoft initially secured exclusivity for these titles after acquiring Bethesda, the company has shown indications that it is open to releasing select flagship titles on competing platforms like the PlayStation.
Other titles from Xbox like Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded were previously made available on rival platforms as part of the company's "Xbox Everywhere" initiative. Reports suggested that there is no firm "red line" preventing future Xbox first-party games from launching on the PlayStation.
Fans can expect more information about Indiana Jones and the Great Circle during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20. The event, hosted by Geoff Keighley, will offer a closer look at the game and hopefully announce its release date, alongside other major titles like COD: Black Ops 6, MH Wilds, Civ 7, Marvel Rivals, and Dune: Awakening.
