The Hill Troll resides in a hidden cave nestled within the mountains of Bahlgar. The easiest access point is via the Lakeshire elevator. Descend to Bahlgar as you would to fight Beastmen, but instead of dropping down to their area, follow the mountain's edge. Pass two platinum deposits and scan the mountainside for a cave entrance. You'll need to jump into this opening—a mount makes this significantly easier. While it might seem tricky at first, reaching the cave becomes routine with practice. Despite its intimidating appearance, the Hill Troll is a relatively manageable mini-boss, and you'll likely face it repeatedly. Therefore, it's crucial to approach this encounter strategically.
Solo attempts are strongly discouraged. Team up with at least one other player; many players farm the Troll regularly, making group formation relatively easy. The Troll respawns in just 90 seconds after defeat.
The Hill Troll attacks with a powerful pillar. Its attacks are slow but devastating. You can parry and block most attacks, but its overhead, two-handed pillar slam is an instant stun—dodge this one! Consistent damage can stagger the Troll. Warrior class players will find the Counter ability particularly effective for stunning it.
While rare equipment drops are possible, don't count on them. Focus on farming Troll Hides and Troll Heads. Hides are essential for crafting decent endgame equipment, bridging the gap until you face tougher bosses like the Mother Spider.
Troll Heads are key quest items for the repeatable Hodor quest. Every hour, you can trade a Troll Head to Hodor (located near the cave) for a chance at powerful gear. This makes farming the Hill Troll even more rewarding.
No, the Hill Troll is untamable, even for Beast Tamer Archers. Its size and mini-boss status make it unsuitable as a pet. Stick to your trusty Mud Crab!
