Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack adds two classic GBA F-Zero racing games!
Get ready to experience high-speed futuristic racing with the arrival of F-Zero: GP Legend and the Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax on October 11, 2024!

Nintendo's announcement brings two thrilling additions to the ever-expanding library of classic games available to Expansion Pack subscribers. Both titles offer intense, competitive racing action.

The F-Zero series, a cornerstone of Nintendo's racing legacy since its 1990 debut, is renowned for its groundbreaking speed and innovative gameplay. Its influence is undeniable, inspiring other racing franchises like SEGA's Daytona USA. The series consistently pushed the technological boundaries of its time, setting a benchmark for fast-paced racing on systems like the SNES.
Like Nintendo's popular Mario Kart series, F-Zero challenges players to navigate treacherous tracks, overcome obstacles, and outmaneuver opponents in their powerful "F-Zero machines." The iconic Captain Falcon, a key character in Super Smash Bros., even got his start in the F-Zero universe.
F-Zero: GP Legend, initially released in Japan in 2003 and later internationally in 2004, joins F-Zero Climax, a title previously exclusive to Japan since its 2004 release. F-Zero Climax marks the last standalone entry in the series before the release of the F-Zero 99 MMO last year. According to F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura, the overwhelming success of Mario Kart contributed to the series' extended hiatus.
This October 2024 update for the Switch Online + Expansion Pack gives subscribers access to both F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend, offering a wealth of racing modes including Grand Prix, story modes, and time trials.
