Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update
This update introduces the "Khorovod" event, featuring special tasks, rewards, and a unique game mode. The objective? Light and protect a Christmas tree across six locations.
A major addition is the "Prestige" system, similar to Call of Duty. Reaching level 55, completing quests, and accumulating resources unlocks the ability to reset your character, retaining some gear and earning unique rewards (achievements, cosmetics, and additional tasks) unaffected by wipes. Initially, two prestige levels are available, with eight more planned.
Other significant changes include:
- Engine Upgrade: Transition to the Unity 2022 engine.
- Frostbite Effect: A new status effect reducing vision and stamina when your character catches a cold. Alcohol, warmth, and shelter provide relief.
- Winter Theming: Winter-themed enhancements and map adjustments.
- Customs Map Rework: Updated textures, objects, and points of interest.
- New Weapons: Seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher.
- Hidden Exfiltration Points: Secret escape routes requiring specific items.
- New Questline: A new quest chain for the BTR Driver.
- Hideout Customization: Expanded hideout customization options.
- Continuous Healing: Implementation of continuous healing mechanics.
- Recoil Balancing: Recoil adjustments and visual improvements.
- Balance Changes and Bug Fixes: Numerous balance adjustments and bug fixes.
The update also coincides with a standard Escape from Tarkov wipe, ensuring players have plenty to explore once servers are live.
