Elden Ring NPCs Revealed: Armorless Encounters in Shadow of the Erdtree

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has some terrifying NPCs, and a dataminer has made them look significantly less intimidating by showcasing what the character models inside their armor look like. While some of these Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC NPCs have pretty basic models, others have some really interesting characteristics that resonate with their lore.

Just like the other Soulsborne games, the lore has been one of the biggest talking points of Elden Ring apart from, of course, the difficulty. The lore is so intricate at times that players only get to know part of the story from the in-game cues, and the rest is dissected by the dataminers. Recently, a dataminer revealed what's inside the armor of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC's horrifying Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss. Now, another creator has gone a step further and dissected some more characters from the expansion.

In a new video, YouTuber and Soulsborne dataminer Zullie the Witch reveals some interesting details about the NPCs in Elden Ring. The video showcases the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree NPCs without their armor, and it is actually quite impressive to see the amount of effort FromSoftware has put behind each of these characters, despite a lot of the features not being visible to the naked eye. Fans have been fascinated by the raw appearance many of the NPCs have, starting with Moore, with several players saying he looked exactly as they had imagined.

Elden Ring Fans Impressed With The Meticulousness Of NPC Character Models

Redmane Freyja's model is quite interesting too, as her face is scarred by Scarlet Rot. This aligns with her lore in the game, and it is quite a nice detail to have considering players don't really see what's inside the armor in the game. Players have also highlighted that one of the NPCs players find in Elden Ring's Volcano Manor, Tanith, shares striking similarities with Dancer of Ranah, which again is quite apt considering Tanith was a dancer before becoming Rykard's consort.

That being said, there are a few surprising aspects as well. For instance, Hornsent doesn't actually have horns for some reason, but the dataminer adds that it was probably not added as the character would need a unique model altogether for that. On the other hand, fans have added that along with Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC's new hairstyle options, horn customizations should also have been added with the expansion.
