Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, is considering a PC port of the PS5 exclusive action-adventure title. While no official announcement has been made, recent comments from the CEO and CFO during an IPO press conference indicate strong interest. The game's impressive sales and overwhelmingly positive critical reception (an 82 average on OpenCritic from 124 reviews) since its April release, including a top-selling debut month in the US, have fueled this consideration.
The decision hinges on Shift Up's contractual relationship with publisher Sony. However, CFO Jae-woo Ahn noted the shifting trend of AAA game players towards PC, suggesting a port could significantly boost the IP's value. This aligns with Sony's own strategy of eventually bringing its exclusives to PC, as seen with the upcoming PC release of God of War: Ragnarok.
A previous financial report already hinted at both a sequel and a PC port for Stellar Blade. While a PC release remains unconfirmed, the developer's continued interest and Sony's precedent strongly suggest it's a likely future development. Currently, Shift Up is focused on optimizing the PS5 version, addressing recent graphical issues reported by players. A patch to resolve these issues is underway.
