Assassin's Creed Shadows' March 2025 Release Date Confirmed
Ubisoft has announced a further delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing its release date from February 14, 2025, to March 20, 2025. This decision follows an earlier postponement from the game's initial November 2024 launch.
The publisher cites the need to integrate player feedback as the reason for the latest delay. This contrasts with the first delay, attributed to internal development challenges related to historical accuracy. Ubisoft's Vice President and Executive Producer, Marc-Alexis Coté, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience through ongoing player engagement. Both delays, according to Coté, provide crucial extra time for refining and polishing the game.
Revised Release Date:
The September 2024 delay resulted in pre-order refunds and the offer of free access to the game's first expansion for future pre-orders. Ubisoft hasn't yet commented on similar compensation for this latest postponement. The shorter delay (five weeks versus three months) may mitigate potential player backlash.
This additional delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched in response to disappointing sales figures and record losses in fiscal year 2023. The investigation aims to create a more "player-centric" approach to game development, and incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows could be a direct result of this initiative.
