Amazon has introduced Alexa+, an upgraded version of its popular voice assistant, currently available in Early Access. Powered by generative AI, Alexa+ aims to provide a more natural, conversational experience, enabling users to engage in fluid dialogue. According to Amazon, "Alexa+ is more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done." This enhanced assistant is designed to assist with a wide range of tasks, from managing your to-do list and retrieving calendar details to booking restaurant reservations.
Currently, Alexa+ Early Access is exclusive to a select group of Echo Show devices: the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you own one of these devices or plan to purchase one, you can sign up for notifications about the Early Access availability through the provided link. Post the Early Access phase, Alexa+ will be offered as a complimentary benefit for Amazon Prime members, while non-Prime users can access it for a monthly fee of $19.99.

Older generation Echo devices, including the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen, will continue to use the original Alexa. Amazon plans to expand Alexa+ compatibility to more devices soon, including Fire TV, Fire tablets, and Alexa.com, ensuring broader accessibility in the near future.
