Application Description

MAME4droid, developed by David Valdeita (Seleuco), is an Android port of the MAME 0.37b5 emulator originally created by Nicola Salmoria and the MAME Team. This emulator draws its lineage from iMAME4all, which was designed for jailbroken iPhones and iPads, and is further based on the GP2X, WIZ MAME4ALL 2.5 by Franxis. MAME4droid enables users to play over 2000 different arcade game romsets, encompassing those supported by MAME 0.37b5 and some from newer versions.

It's important to note that with such a vast library of games, performance can vary. Some games may run smoothly, while others might not work at all on MAME4droid. If you're using an older device, don't expect top-notch performance. To improve gameplay, consider lowering sound quality or turning it off, using 8-bit depth, underclocking the CPU and Sound CPUs, and disabling animations and smooth scaling.

To get started, install the app and then place your zipped MAME roms in the /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/roms folder. MAME4droid is compatible only with MAME4droid and iMAME4all romsets from MAME versions 0.37b5 and GP2X, WIZ 0.37b11. If you need to convert romsets from other MAME versions, use the "clrmame.dat" file found in /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/ along with the ClrMAME Pro utility, available at http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/.

Please be aware that MAME4droid does not support save states, as it is based on a MAME version without this feature.
